This research examines how perceived risk influences humans’ monitoring behavior (cross-checking AI outputs) and trust towards an AI system, using eye-tracking to measure attention allocation and pupillometry as a measure of cognitive load. This research informs our understanding of the reliance-verification tradeoff in in AI-assisted decision making.

➝ Data collection for the pilot study is ongoing, whereas data collection for study 1 will begin in the Fall of 2026.
